Dark Soul's Nightmare News

Bleed All About It

It’s a new year and new terrors await us horror fans for 2008.  For fans
of dark heroes, the TV series The Crow: Stairway To Heaven is now
on DVD.  The disc has the whole series of the show with the one
season that it ran for.  The 4 DVD's have a making of the series and
commentary from the shows producer.  If you never seen the show
and are a Crow fan you will enjoy the new DVDs.  Also coming to
DVD, if dead men with clown make-up is your thing, then check out
Todd McFarlane’s super cool animated series from HBO Spawn.  The
4 discs have the whole 1997-99 series on them with interviews,
commentary and other good stuff.  And talk about dark heroes, I just
saw a preview for the new Bat Man movie The Dark Knight.  Once
again the bat faces the dreaded Joker who now looks a whole lot like
The Crow as its has been nineteen years (God that long already) since
Bat Man and The Joker faced off.  As with Bat Man Begins this new
film has nothing to do with the last four films of the series that started
in 1989 with Michael Keaton as the man under the cowl.  Look for The
Dark Night coming in the spring of 2008.

Fans of the movie Dog Soldiers are going to be very happy and you
heard it here first BMR fans.  There is a follow film on the way that
starts off right where the last film ended called Dog Soldiers: Fresh
Meat.  We all saw Cooper make it out of the werewolf house alive but
will he make it out of the woods werewolf free?  Find out when the
new movie comes out in 2008.  Another werewolf film on the way this
year is called Jack and Diane.  No it’s nothing like the old 80's song
and this one has both Jack and Diane being the same sex.  Two
chicks in fact and one is hiding  something deadly from the other.
Don’t think John Cougar had two girl lovers in mind....but what the
hay, sounds like fun.

Well, I have been talking about it here in the Nightmare News for some
time now but now there are release dates for two of the most long
awaited films in the horror genre.  At least by us old school horror
fans.  The Wolf Man and Creature From The Black Lagoon are both in
full pre-production with the new furry one hitting theaters in 2009 and
Creature in 2010.  Master make-up artist Rick Baker of An American
Werewolf In London fame and master creature creator will be the man
behind designing the new Wolf Man.  Monster actor Brian Steele who
has played the werewolves in Underworld 1and 2 along with the
creatures in The Cave, The Relic, Doom and so many other critters is
now stepping into his dream project.  He will play the new Gillman in
the new Creature From The Black Lagoon.  You can see Brian’s
interview with our publisher in BMR Issue #30 or you can also check it
out on WerewolfCafe.com where it is also posted.

Genre fans be sure to come to The Institute of Horror, Fantasy &
Science Fiction this coming Feb. 23rd at the Queens Flushing Library
41-17 Main Street Flushing NY 11355.  The event being hosted by our
publisher AL J. Vermette will have Short Films, Lectures, Authors
Room, Monster Museum, Light Saber Dueling and Fantasy Sword
Fight based on AL’s book series Lucan. The event is free to the public
so come and enjoy and bring a friend.
