Blood Notes

Welcome my devoted Legion to Blood Moon Rising Issue
#35 and the 8th Anniversary Issue.  Yes, eight years of
bringing you The Magazine of All Things Horror and what a
eight  years it’s been.  As you can see that we are for now
keeping with the new publishing format brought to you online
by way of our main web site and Web Master and staff
member D.W. Jones.  Jones once again whipped up another
stunning issue online and I hope that you all enjoy it.  Wow,
35 issues....who would have thought it...sure as hell not I....I
can tell you that.  I didn’t think that we would make it past #8.

One thing that I would like to talk about here is the return of
our Halloween horror show Blood Fest.  Yes it's back after a
year off due to our office moving last year.  Two years ago
we just held a smaller verison as a Halloween party like the
one we held back in 2002.  But now the main show is back
and in a new and better location this time out.  And this time,
we are back in New York, for this show being held at the
Queens Library 41-17 Main St. Flushing NY 11355 where
we bringing back the short films, live rock bands and
costume contests that made the first few shows so much
fun.  The show is being held at the same venue where we
just did our last event The Institute of Horror, Fantasy &
Science Fiction.  The library loved all that we did for that
event and wanted us to bring Blood Fest to them this up
coming Halloween season.  Blood Fest 5 will be held on Nov.
1st from 12:00 noon to 4:00pm and best of all...the show is
FREE to all of our fans.

Speaking of our event, The Institute of Horror, Fantasy &
Science Fiction that was held on Feb. 23rd you can see
photos of the event in this issue.  The event hosted by
myself was a real hit I must say and things went very, very
well in deed.  The show had a lecture ran by me on the
subject of writing and publishing along with two short films by
Lake Films with Q&A following.  There was an authors
reading with Q&A as well.  We had a Monster Museum that I
build (First indoor display that  I did in over 15 years)
featuring creatures of myth such as an eight foot werewolf,
two seven foot Grim Reapers, a Mummy, a Ghost, Zombie
and Scarecrow.  All were created for the show other than
the two Reapers as they stood at Blood Fest 2&3.  Inside
two large glass display cases were mini movie monsters like
Pumpkin Head, Alien along with werewolves and other
creatures as were also my whole skull collection.  Then in a
third case there was my collection of  Star Wars and Star
Trek action figures all from the 1970's. The Star Wars
figures were the first ever figures to come out in 1977 and I
got a thrill to show them off.  It was the first time they were
seen by someone other then myself in almost 30 years.

We added a little more Sci/Fi into the mix with a Light Saber
duel where fans were invited up on stage to fence with yours
truly.  The day’s events ended with a live stage sword battle
based on my book series Lucan.  Everyone loved seeing
Lucan brought to life before their eyes as he did battle with
evil knights and other magical creatures.  You too can now
see Lucan in action as the stage  battle was filmed by
Michele Jones, wife of BMR staff member D.W. Jones and
is now on You Tube.  To see Lucan in action, just key word
search (Lucan Sword Battle) and enjoy.
